Leon Mizrachi was born on December 15th, 1923 in Jerusalem Palestine and was a true Sabra. He had two brothers, Abraham and Victor, both of whom have passed away. Leon spoke seven languages fluently and for most of his life he worked as a diesel mechanic. What set Leon apart from most other people was his golden hands and his zeal in trying to find better ways to do mechanical and technological things. He literally built a house in New York State with his own hands, and he was always tinkering with new things and was developing an invention that would produce electricity through solar power and lenses when he died. Leon had started building another house in Israel, but he became ill with cancer and was unable to complete the house. This house was intended to be used by his daughter and two grandchildren, instead, the house was confiscated by the developer and afterwards Leon died with a broken heart. Leon was an honored and decorated hero in the Israeli Army and had fought in two wars. His remains are buried in Israel, the country where he was born and which he loved.
Leon was a devout conservative Jew and observed his faith daily, dearly loving the Lord, and his only daughter Sheri May, and his two grandchildren Lilly Rose and Jacob Joseph. He literally lived and died for them, and he is sadly missed by all his family and friends. We will never forget him and we will always think kindly of all the good things he did for his family.
Moreover, Leon was also a professional soccer player in his youth and played for the Israeli national team. He continued to practice, teach, referee and play soccer well into his eighties. His loving daughter Sheri May wishes that his memorial remain on this website forever so that his memory will never fade. Rest in peace dear father and grandfather, we love and miss you.
